Kinetic Wood Sculpture

If you guessed Mrs. Doubtfire for the movie trivia you were correct! Congratulations you're getting too good at these. Now on to today -- I love these moving wooden sculptures by the artist David C. Roy. They are not only beautiful handcrafted sculptures, but once in motion they become an ever changing piece of art filled with joy and amusement! I especially love the one below, Journey, when in motion it reminds me of a beautiful bird in graceful flight. If you'd like to get an idea of what they look like in motion check out the video below or go to his website Wood That Works.

What unique intricate works of art! I believe that I have seen his work in a gallery in Banff...if it not him it is some artist with similar work.

Me and u tube don't get along well, so can't see the video; but the sculptures are very graceful looking. The first one looks like one of those whirling things people used to put in gardens to scare off the birds.

Thanks for the mention in your blog. Not only am I a creator of handcrafted kinetic sculpture, I am an avid craft collector. I enjoy living with beautiful, handmade things. If they entertain as well, then we all end up smiling!
