June's Alexandrite

Here we celebrate June's birthstone - Alexandrite. The most sensational feature about the stone Alexandrite is its surprising ability to change its color. Green or bluish-green in daylight, Alexandrite turns a soft shade of red, purplish-red or raspberry red in incandescent light. This unique optical characteristic makes it one of the most valuable gemstones of all, especially in fine qualities. Emerald is the green version of the mineral Beryl, it was considered to be the talisman of the goddess Venus and represents faith, goodness and kindness. Janis Joplin Style

The answer to the Handmade Movie Challenge 05.06.09 was Raging Bull. Thanks for playing along -- and now on to today.

I have to say that Janis was one of my favorite female singers back in the day and remains one of my all time favorites today. She could belt out a song like nobody's business and from what I hear could drink any man under the table, now that's my kinda gal! For me she was the very first lady of rock and roll and remains one of the greats. Here are some wonderful handmade items that I think speak volumes for Janis' style and what she might be wearing today. If you'd like to hear a great song by Janis, it's at the very end, Little Girl Blue, one of my favorites because it shows the true beauty of her voice, watch it, you'll get sucked in and be mesmerized -- Janis style, she definitely had 'it' -- gotta love her.
