The Wonderful World of Tom Haney

The correct answer for the challenge was Crocodile Dundee -- congrats to all! Now for today, I came across these kinetic sculptures by Tom Haney and wanted to share them with you. They are wonderful pieces and entirely hand crafted; all of the figures are hand carved and sculpted. Not only does he create all the figures himself he makes them move mechanically. I can only imagine the amount of time it takes to create one of these pieces. The level of detail in his work just amazes me and the creativity delights! But to really get the full effect of this artwork you must visit his website and watch them in action, they are incredibly charming!

Needle Felt Oddities

The answer to the Handmade Movie Challenge 04.29 was Steel Magnolias -- good job to all who guessed and thanks for playing along!

Now on to today's feature. I'm used to seeing felted wool in cute, adorable dogs, cats and other animals so when I came across these needle felt creations by Stephanie Metz I was oddly attracted to them. They are pieces like I've never seen before so maybe that's why I was so pulled in by them or maybe it's just my odd curiosity, either way I fell in love with these skull pieces and wanted to share them here with you. You can find more of these here at her website where along with these she does have cute and adorable animals. You can also check out some prints of her sculptures available in her etsy shop.

More Awesome Dolls

Answer to the Movie Challenge: Looking for Mr. Goodbar -- you were all correct again! And now on to today's feature --
I was browsing around and found these wonderful Freaky Deaky Dolls by the artist Joanna Bond. I think I must be fascinated with dolls and sculpture because I tend to feature them a lot. I am most fascinated with the intricacies of these pieces and their weird awesome delight. Joanne describes them as sculptured fashion and random art object dolls. They are truly one of a kind pieces that brought me a lot of joy looking at them -- I'm sure they bring much joy to someone who actually owns one! It was definitely hard to pick a favorite (and if you visit her website I think you'll see why) so here are a few that I chose.

Movie Challenge - 03/18/09

It's guess that movie time again and here are some lovely handmade items for your clues. Remember, the clues may be in the photos or the titles themselves. The only other clue I will give you is that the film is from 1977 and was based on the life of Roseann Quinn, a New York schoolteacher. There are more clues at the right in My Favorites. I will not enable comments until the next post where I will reveal the correct answer. Have fun!!

Scott's Creations

Witches of Eastwick was the correct answer. Thank you everyone for taking part in the movie trivia puzzle -- check in next Wednesday for more movie fun!

Now on to today's feature, Scott Radke and his amazing clay creations. I came across these wonderful handmade creatures and fell in love. Scott's website is another site where you end up spending a lot of time browsing through his incredible collection. His pieces are both whimsical and eerily beautiful, as if each piece has their own secret story to tell you behind their expression. I love Scott's body of work and think you will too. It was hard to pick out just one favorite piece, so I choose three, but I do think they will leave you wanting to see more.
